..;.Worship The State Or Jesus: Chinese Christians Under Pressure
Many Christians in the United States and around the world feel free to put up Christian symbols, such as crosses, scripture passages, and pictures of Jesus, inside and outside their homes.  Christians in Southeastern China, however, were recently told by state officials to take down these images and symbols.   Instead, they were given posters of President Xi Jinping to display.  Most of them complied since, in impoverished rural areas, they feared the loss of government support. In another incident in 2015, over 1,200 crosses were torn down from church buildings in Zhejiang Province and hundreds of house church leaders were arrested.  "Many rural people are ignorant," said one official.  "They think God is their Savior."  The Communist Party prefers that people look to the state for help. It appears that the Communist Party in China is gearing up to crack down on Christians who are independent of the state-sanctioned church.

.;..FALSE MISSILE ALERT SHAKES HAWAII, RESIDENTS CRYING, SCREAMING  -UK Daily Mail
A Civil Defense employee is set to be retrained after a shocking blunder on Saturday morning, when a mistaken alert warning of an inbound ballistic missile sent thousands fleeing for shelter. The false alarm was caused by a Hawaii Emergency Management Agency employee who 'pushed the wrong buttons' during an internal drill timed to coincide with a shift handover at 8.07am. The all-clear phone alert was not sent until 38 minutes later. Incredibly, officials said the employee who made the mistake wasn't aware of it until mobile phones in the command center began displaying the alert.
..;..WHAT CONSTITUTES 'SPIRITUAL ABUSE?'  -Gene Veith
A new category of harm is emerging that pastors especially need to be aware of:  spiritual abuse.  The phenomenon is real, though I worry that it will be used as a club against pastors exercising legitimate church discipline and pastoral care.  The Church of England recently held an ecclesiastical trial that convicted a priest for spiritually abusing a 16-year-old boy. Meanwhile, a British organization called the Churches’ Child Protection Advisory Service sponsored an online survey in which two-thirds of the respondents reported having experienced “spiritually abuse” in churches or other religious organizations.  Such abuse was defined as “coercion and control, manipulation and pressuring of individuals, control through the misuse of religious texts and scripture and providing a ‘divine’ rationale for behaviour.” That sounds like my fifth grade Sunday School class!  The study admitted that the terms were inadequately defined and that the statistics lack validity, since survey participants were not randomly distributed but self-selected, with individuals who felt abused being more likely to respond.
.;..In Canada, Trudeau's Support For Islamists Is A Warning To America   -Prophecy News Watch
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada has an nine-year long record of supporting the Islamist cause while refusing to engage with reformist Muslims. With respect to ISIS fighters returning to Canada, Trudeau has argued that they will be a "powerful voice for deradicalization" and that those who oppose their return are "Islamophobic."

Several churches in Chile have been attacked or vandalised ahead of a visit by Pope Francis next week. Three churches in the capital Santiago were damaged by firebombs. ..;.Why Should You Stay Married? And How? Part 2   -Matt Recker
There are five strong reasons in Malachi 2:13-16 that lead a believer to remain faithful to their marriage vows. The first reason  is because of the divine covenant of marriage, based on Malachi 2:14, which says, “Yet ye say, Wherefore? because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.”  The second reason to remain faithful to your marriage vows is because of the infinite power of the Holy Spirit: “yet had he a residue of the Spirit” (Malachi 2:15).
.;..Wicked, Stinking Pastoral Pragmatism  -David Clo0ud
Pragmatism on the part of pastors is a wicked, stinking thing, because it is so destructive to the work of God....Pragmatism has resulted in haste in evangelism, carelessness in receiving church members, the lowering of the biblical standards for ministers and workers, carelessness about important spiritual issues such as music, and a multitude of other evils. Pragmatism has caused pastors to soften the preaching of God’s Word and cut corners in a myriad of ways. Pragmatism has produced weak things that are called churches but don’t qualify as such when measured biblically.
..;.What the Devil Doesn’t Want You to Know   -Jon Bloom
Here is a truth the devil really doesn’t want you to know: the commands of God are not burdensome (1 John 5:3). The devil wants you to believe God’s commands are torturously burdensome and the death of your happiness. The devil wants you to believe that God is withholding joy from you in the limitations he places on you. But that is the insidious photonegative of reality. The commands of God are only liberating, especially in their limitations.
.;..Choices For the New Year  -George Stiekes
There is always much talk about New Year’s Resolutions at this time of the year....The problem with resolutions, while our intentions might be good, they usually do not amount to anything more than just words and secondly, on our own, we are powerless to accomplish them. Many people begin the year with these good intentions and quickly find themselves defeated and forgetting all about their resolutions.  Here are a few helpful hints at some things that might help you to move forward with some of these good intentions.
..;.Do You Love Jesus, But Not the Church?   -Rick Shenk
“I love Jesus. It’s Christians I can’t stand!” I have heard this (or something very like it) declared as the decisive judgment which authorizes some to avoid engaging in the life of the church. What drives this sentiment? It is, I think, the offense of the gospel that Søren Kierkegaard wrote about....

..;..The Liberal Abandonment of Martin Luther King, Jr.
on Monday the nation will celebrate the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Liberals will pay lip service to Dr. King. But the hard fact is that the American Left has long since abandoned Dr. King.  One has only to recall Dr. King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech in August of 1963 to understand exactly how deeply the American Left has rejected not just Dr. King but in fact stayed true to the original racist roots of the Democratic Party...And there it was....the demand “that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” Sadly, the American Left believes none of this today. The poison of identity politics is merely the modern version of the segregation that Dr. King would give his life fighting to end. It is, as noted here often enough, the son of segregation and the grandson of slavery. Today, to believe as Dr. King did —  is to be seen as racist.
..;..Tennessee Pastor Apologizes for 'Sexual Incident' With Teen   -CNN
The Memphis, Tennessee, congregants broke into 25 seconds of applause after the pastor confessed to a 1998 "sexual incident" with a teenager and asked for their forgiveness.  Now 42, pastor Andy Savage of Highpoint Church was 22 at the time and a youth minister at Woodlands Parkway Baptist Church outside Houston, Texas, when the incident with Jules Woodson occurred.
.;..Andy Savage's Standing Ovation Was Heard Round the World. Because It Was Wrong.  -Christianity Today
....This week, allegations were made against Andy Savage, the megachurch teaching pastor at Highpoint Church in Memphis, regarding an event that took place 20 years ago when Savage was serving as a youth pastor in Texas....When Woodson tried to reach out to Savage a month ago by email, she indicated she never heard back. Instead, Savage confessed the “sexual incident” to his church this past Sunday, not denying any of the story and apologizing for his role. In response, the church gave him a standing ovation. That standing ovation has been heard around the world.
..;..Why Repentant Pastors Should Be Forgiven But Not Restored To the Pulpit   -Jonathan Leeman
Many Christians struggle with what it means to forgive a pastor who has committed a grievous act. Recently, a Memphis megachurch pastor admitted to a “sexual incident” with a high school student 20 years ago in Texas. I’m not in a place to render judgment over another church’s matters. Yet how should we think about forgiveness of a pastor?   Christians struggle with this question because Christianity centers on the idea of forgiveness. Step one in becoming a Christian is acknowledging that you are a sinner in need of forgiveness.  When the pastor is exposed, some push the message of forgiveness. “Who of us is without sin?” they might say, drawing from Jesus in John 8. Meanwhile, others object: “But how can we trust this guy?” I side with the second group. A pastor occupies two offices, or roles: the “office” of pastor and the “office” of church member. The requirements for these offices are different. To be a pastor, you need to....

Michio Kaku has made a name for himself as a world-leading theoretical physicist unafraid to speak his mind....His latest claim is likely to make waves in the world of science. “I have concluded that we are in a world made by rules created by an intelligence,” Kaku said, as quoted by the Geophilosophical Association of Anthropological and Cultural Studies. “To me it is clear that we exist in a plan which is governed by rules that were created, shaped by a universal intelligence and not by chance.”
..;.Paula White Representatives Scrub Web Page of Demands For Offerings & Donations -Christian Journal
Following media reports and public backlash, representatives for false teacher Paula White, who also serves as the chair of President Trump’s Evangelical Advisory Board, have scrubbed a page on White’s website of any mention that she had urged followers to give a “first fruits” offering of a day, week, or month’s wages—and that there are “consequences” for those who don’t give God their first fruits out of “ignorance or disobedience.”

..;..A Sign From God? Christians Claim Divine Intervention Saved Bible In Church Arson Attack
The Evangelical Christian Baptist Church in Kaji-Say, in Kyrgyzstan, was destroyed after being set alight in a reported sectarian arson attack.  But a photo has emerged claiming to show the charred remains of the building, with an open copy of the Bible untouched on the altar - despite the altar cloth being burnt.  While the edges of the holy book look blackened, it appears as though the flames stopped just short of the book. Release International, a monitor of violence against Christians, claim Muslim militants threw Molotov cocktails into the church in the early hours of January 3. They believe the attack was carried out in revenge for the church’s active role in organising outreach events.  Churches in Kyrgyzstan have faced growing opposition but this is the first to be attacked in recent years.  Firefighters who tackled the blaze reportedly said they found several bottles of petrol inside the church, but they had failed to ignite.
.;..Four Common Capitalism Myths Debunked    -James Davenport
One of the most disappointing things I face as a college professor is the lack of understanding most students have regarding capitalism. The simple fact is, despite its importance to our daily lives, relatively few people have a strong grasp of what causes economic growth and why markets are so central to continuously rising standards of living. In my teaching, I have encountered several myths or misperceptions about capitalism from students as well as individuals outside the classroom. Dispelling these myths has become a focus of much of my teaching.

....Google manager Adam Fletcher wrote in 2015 he would never hire conservatives he deemed hold hostile views. “I will never, ever hire/transfer you onto my team,” he wrote. “Ever. I don’t care if you are perfect fit or technically excellent or whatever. I will actively not work with you, even to the point where your team or product is impacted by this decision. I’ll communicate why to your manager if it comes up.” “You’re being blacklisted by people at companies outside of Google,” he added. “You might not have been aware of this, but people know, people talk. There are consequences.”
.;..Waiting for God to Text Back    -Matthew Westerholm
Impatience. It is easy to feel, especially on the Internet. Click a link, skim an article, and get to the point...Our cravings for fast easily creep into our faith and into our churches. We pray and wait, pray and wait, wondering why God hasn’t texted back yet. We celebrate quick victories, immediate healings, and fast-answered prayers. True enough, the Spirit can move quickly...In fact, God has a particular glory that he displays by moving slowly.

..;.Apocalyptic Fixation  -Paul Henebury
.....Of course, Jesus Himself believed that Daniel was a historical figure, and plainly implied that He was the “Son of Man” about whom Daniel wrote. Furthermore, Jesus clearly viewed “the abomination of desolation” as prophetical, not apocalypse in the sense Collins would make it (see Mark 13:14). But if you view Daniel as a pseudonymous second century composite work as Collins does, his thesis about myth-borrowing looks plausible. It becomes implausible only when one begins with Scripture as the Word of God. Of course, Collins, et al. do not believe that Daniel is describing actual events. He views Daniel as ex eventu prophecy, written centuries after the protagonists were dead. Neither does he hold that books like Daniel, Ezekiel and Zechariah record predictions. From this starting point, it is a foregone conclusion that he will entertain very different opinions about the nature of ...
..;.Loving Our Communities Like the Amish Do  -Paul House
..... To casual observers, the Amish seem odd, because they dress in old-fashioned clothes, use old methods of farming and manufacturing, and are very religious. These distinctives arise from their commitment to being community-driven, creation-minded, family-oriented, and self-effacing. They are pacifists (88–89), agrarians, and slow and steady workers.

..;..Chinese Authorities Demolish Evangelical Church in Crack Down   -CBN News
A church in northern China's coal country that once served as the worship center for more than 50,000 congregants is no longer standing.  All that is left of the Golden Lampstand Church in the city of Linfen in Shanxi province is the church's steeple and cross which now lays on top of a large pile of rubble. Chinese authorities detonated explosives in an underground worship hall earlier this week, ChinaAid, a U.S.-based Christian advocacy group, reports. This is not the first time Golden Lampstand Church has come face to face with Chinese government officials.

..;..Warning To Christians Don’t Board the Oprah Bandwagon  -OneNewsNow
A public policy analyst cautions his fellow Christians who might be thinking of supporting an Oprah Winfrey bid for the presidency in 2020.  The Left is giddy over the news that the popular media mogul is actually considering making a run in 2020. Calls for Winfrey to enter the fray reached a crescendo after her impassioned speech this weekend at the Golden Globes about sexual abuse, invoking the #MeToo movement.  OneNewsNow spoke with Abraham Hamilton III, general counsel and public policy analyst for the American Family Association. He recalled a different reaction from "progressives" regarding Winfrey when the idea of her involvement in politics came from then-candidate Donald Trump. "He floated the idea of having Oprah Winfrey as his vice president, if you remember that – and the media excoriated him," says Hamilton. "The talking heads all roundly concluded that Donald Trump was not a serious candidate because he was considering Oprah Winfrey as his vice-presidential candidate.

They don’t make Satanists like they used to.  Their sins once included backmasking messages onto vinyl, taking the role of D&D dungeon master too far, spray painting pentagrams and triple sixes under overpasses, and, when really wishing to affirm the faith, ritualistically murdering other teenagers or other teenagers’ parents, usually in Beavis’s America. The Los Angeles Times recently depicted local Satanists in the form of a Luciferian do-wop duo, #MeToo feminists, and hipsters throwing house parties. Call it rebranding.

...New technologies do offer amazing potential for those with the maturity, discipline, and love to use them well. Text messages enable us to use spare seconds to exchange notes and encourage each other. FaceTime allows us to see the person we’re talking to in real time, suddenly making a phone call more personal. And of course, smartphones and social media almost immediately widen our network of relationships, allowing us to “keep up” with many more old friends while constantly introducing us to new people.  But I suspect that while new technologies have made many new things possible and many old things easier, they have not translated into deeper, more intimate relationships like we might have expected. Google, the most powerful search engine in the world, is now displaying fact checks for conservative publications in its results. No prominent liberal site receives the same treatment. ....Do we really need to go to a building on a certain day for it to count as doing church? If so, isn’t that legalistic? It’s becoming increasingly popular to fashion new ways to “do church.” But how do we discern what does and does not constitute going to church? God’s word says plenty on the issue.

..;..Will Your Phone Dominate Your Life in 2018?  -Crossway
As we begin a new year, many of us will take a moment to reflect upon life, the year past, and the days to come. How can we reorient unhealthy patterns and develop new ones to improve our physical and spiritual health? Technology use is an area with which many of us struggle to find balance. How much is too much? What is it good for? How can we encourage our families to hold it in its proper place?  Today is the eleventh anniversary of the release of the iPhone. With how much of our lives and thoughts are consumed by our handheld devices, it’s hard to believe that smartphones have only been in our pockets for just over a decade.  What we need are new life disciplines birthed from a new set of life priorities. In his book, 12 Ways Your Phone Is Changing You, Tony Reinke examines what makes us so prone to become attached to our devices, and how we can guard against unhealthy patterns with use. He writes:

..;..The New Normal for Church Security -Thom Rainer
We recently experienced a new tipping point for church security. A tipping point is the critical juncture in evolving developments that leads to a new and, often, irreversible state. We call that new state ‘the new normal.’ In church security we have witnessed two major tipping points. Though child sex abuse in churches was not new, it reached a new level of awareness and response when Pope John Paul II called an emergency meeting with the U. S. cardinals in 2002. We knew then the issue was serious and pervasive. We reached a second major tipping point in November 2017 with the church shootings at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. Among the 26 people killed were nine members of one family. Church leaders and members across the nation began to realize that if it can happen in Sutherland Springs, it can happen anywhere.

....It needs money to serve people, but in many cases, it gets that money from the community it serves. So ministers are incentivized to plant and grow their churches in areas where people can afford to give money away. Churches, especially new churches with young leadership and young congregants, seem to be a feature of stable and upwardly mobile communities. The disadvantaged communities that are most in need of the services churches exist in part to provide cannot afford to start and sustain those churches—and thus they are not getting them.

The born again child of God has “everlasting consolation through grace” (2 Th. 2:16), but this does not mean he can live as he pleases. First, the Bible teaches that salvation changes the person’s life so that he is a new creature in Christ (2 Co. 5:17).

Ninety-eight percent of the Muslim world — 24 percent of all the men, women, and children on the planet today — are still under the deception of a false prophet. Their souls are in grave danger....The apostle Paul wrote, “we are not ignorant of [Satan’s] designs” (2 Corinthians 2:11). I can think of at least five schemes Satan uses to keep Muslims deceived.

.;..What the Atheist Claim of the Meaninglessness of Life Would Mean (If it were True)   -The Stream
....If life can be reduced to biology, to nothing but chemical and physical interactions — as many atheists claim — then the explanation that all life, including our own, is meaningless futile repetition must be true. Don’t pass too quickly by “meaningless.” This is the main point. If our lives are solely biology, then our lives have no meaning. This is a stronger conclusion than you might think. For it follows that any meaning anybody ascribes to any event in life is itself meaningless. Any and all moral judgments are mere prejudice, the result of particular arrangements of chemicals operating under unbreakable physical laws. If all moral judgments are prejudice, then everything anybody ever thinks or says is opinion.

..;..What Planned Parenthood’s Annual Report Proves-National Review
It earns most of its money from abortions, it’s flush with cash, and it provides very few actual health-care services.
The results are in: Planned Parenthood remains America’s biggest abortion provider. And it’s not even close. The organization — which recently celebrated its centennial anniversary — has just released its annual report for the 2016–17 fiscal year. The numbers confirm what rational observers have long known: Planned Parenthood exists to provide abortions, and not much else. Amid the gloom, there is one glimmer of positive news. Last year, the group provided fewer abortions than it had the year before, though the number is still staggering: 321,384 abortion procedures in one year alone. In 2015–16, Planned Parenthood reported 328,348 abortions. A decrease in abortions, of course, isn’t Planned Parenthood’s victory to celebrate — not that the group is trying to take credit for the drop, or celebrating it at all. The U.S. abortion rate has dropped steadily since 1980, so the decline in Planned Parenthood–administered abortions is much more...

..;..‘Mindfulness’Corporate America’s Strange New Gospel  -National Review
Buddhism without Buddha promises to make workers happier and more productive. Andy Lee has an interesting job title: He is his company’s “chief mindfulness officer,” and he is not employed at some voguish Silicon Valley start-up or by a chain of organic-food co-ops — he works for Aetna, as old-fashioned a corporate giant as you could ever hope to find. In an interview with Healthy Workplace author Leigh Stringer, Aetna’s mindfulness program was described in familiar terms: “Participants are regaining 62 minutes per week of productivity,” Stringer wrote. “They are seeing an approximate dollar return, in terms of productivity alone, of more than $3,000 per person per year.” Never mind karma — this is a bottom-line issue. “Mindfulness,” a meditation practice that is in essence Buddhism without Buddha, is everywhere in corporate America and celebrity culture. Google offered a course under engineer-guru Chade Meng Tan (employee No. 107) that at one point had a six-month waiting period; Meng has since gone off on his own. Goldman Sachs has caught the mindfulness bug and uses a mindfulness app to keep its employees mindful.

All three branches of government have acknowledged the problems posed by unaccountable government bureaucrats who perform legislative, executive, and judicial functions.

The president had declared November 7, 2017 as “National Day for the Victims of Communism.” Montgomery then tweeted, that “victims of Communism” was just a “white nationalist talking point.” He has since withdrawn the tweet and apologized.
.;..Make 2018 the Year of Religious Freedom    -Rebecca Hagelin
“Religious persecution.” It’s a phrase that conjures up awful scenes of brutality and human rights violations in distant lands. Christians in many countries are routinely locked up, beaten or deprived of their livelihoods simply for attempting to practice their faith. Most of us can’t imagine what it’s like for the government to force us to engage in activities that violate our deeply held faiths or to recant what we believe. We don’t stop to think about it because such things never happen in America.  Or do they?
..;.Geologists See 2018 As Year Of Monster Quakes  -Prophecy News Watch
Geophysicists who studied seismic activity over the past 117 years report 2018 could be shaping up as a year of monster earthquakes – especially around the equator. Why? The signal that causes the alarm from a historical pattern, they say, is the slowing of the Earth’s rotation.
.;..Is Jesus an Imperialist? The Problem of Missions and Empire   -Thomas Kidd
....There was a time in American history when missions advocates had no hesitation about combining the agendas of evangelism, “civilization,” and even empire. That backstory should make it clear why American Christians and other missionaries need to be careful to not let cultural or political assumptions infiltrate the gospel message. Yet the fact remains that it has always been easier for American missionaries to go where America has a strong business, political, or military presence. Like it or not, there has been a historic connection between empire and missions.
..;.Watching Turkey's Descent Into Islamist Dictatorship  -Prophecy News Watch
"Deep trouble" in Turkey's relationships with Europe and the United States was a recurring theme in the December address of Michael Meier -- representative to America and Canada for Germany's Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), or the Foundation for Social Democracy.  His introduction to the Middle East Institute (MEI) and FES' eighth annual Turkey Conference, at Washington, DC's National Press Club was an appropriately gloomy preface to the discussion of Turkey's troubled past and present.
.;..How Great (and Gentle) is our God!  -David Murray
As we enter 2018, news headlines warn us about North Korean nuclear missiles, terrorists using drones to launch chemical and biological attacks, artificial intelligence taking over the human race, another housing bubble bursting and the stock-market crashing, and on and on it goes. The dangers are great and our defenses are weak. So let’s turn from media headlines to biblical headlines in order to correct our worldview and enter 2018 in a more peaceful and trusting spirit.
..;.Suffering In the Christian Life    -David Cloud
The believer should not be puzzled at suffering, because the Bible plainly states that it is a necessary part of the Christian life. The Bible even tells us why we suffer.  Suffering comes in many forms: sickness and physical pain, mental depression and darkness, things breaking and wearing out, lack, loss, dashed hopes and disappointment, slander and other types of mistreatment by people.   God is in control of the believer’s life as a potter sitting at....

..;..Making a Fresh Start With God  -Jared C. Wilson
If you’re like me, it often takes until spring begins to even start thinking about taking new steps in your routine or transitioning into healthier habits. The lax lifestyle of Christmas vacation gives way into the blahs of winter, and so my New Year’s resolutions usually don’t even get thought about until Easter rolls around, at which point I feel guilty that I let so much time in the year slip by. And...I always feel like it’s best to start something new at an official starting point. This is why I’ll only start diets on Mondays. Once I’ve missed those starting points, then, my self-justifying logic kicks in, and I figure it won’t hurt to wait until the next starting point—whether that’s next week or next year—to finally make it a point to start. Maybe you’re in the same boat when it comes to your spiritual life. Maybe you have been wanting to start fresh with your relationship with God, but you keep putting it off for whatever reason. Might I suggest your apprehension may have less to do with the right timing and more with the right approach?

The incident, which happened in the oil-rich region of Rivers state, has been linked to growing tensions between rival gangs, local reports say.
..;..The Emerging Church The 21st Century Face of New Evangelicalism  David Cloud
The emerging church is simply the twenty-first century face of New Evangelicalism. Andy Crouch calls the emerging church “post-evangelicalism.” He says: “The emerging movement is a protest against much of evangelicalism as currently practiced. It is post-evangelical in the way that neo-evangelicalism (in the 1950s) was post-fundamentalist. It would not be unfair to call it postmodern evangelicalism” (“The Emergent Mystique,” Christianity Today, Nov. 2004). The late Robert Webber also observed the association between the emerging church and the neo-evangelicalism of the 1940s and 1950s. He taught that the emerging church is the latest of four movements that have occurred within evangelicalism since 1946, the first being neo-evangelicalism...The intimate association between New Evangelicalism and the emerging church is witnessed by Christianity Today.
.;..Ancient Jerusalem Artifact Supports Bible, Jewish Presence in City  -CBN News
Archaeologists excavating in the Western Wall plaza in Jerusalem unearthed what they are describing as a “unique and significant discovery” – a tiny clay “sealing” -- that Jerusalem’s mayor says again highlights the 3,000-year Jewish connection to the city.   The artifact is a “stamped piece of clay”, referred to as a “sealing,” from the First Temple period, 1006-586 B.C. It belonged to the “governor of the city” of Jerusalem, which would have been the most prominent local position held in the city 2,700 years ago.

..;.Reformation Theology Waning As Many Protestants Believe More Like Catholics  -Prophecy News Watch
Martin Luther began the Protestant Reformation 500 years ago in October of 1517 with the nailing of 95 theses to the door of the All Saints Church in Wittenberg, Germany. He also wrote to his bishop, Albrecht von Brandenburg to question the sale of indulgences, and for his protest he was excommunicated. Since that time, Protestants and Catholics have found themselves enemies in countless conflicts, religious wars and fierce nationalistic struggles throughout the Western world.  But two new surveys from the Pew Research Center show signs that this is changing as the beliefs of the majority of protestants have reverted toward Catholic doctrine once again.

.;..Watch Where You Walk In 2018   -Scott Hubbard
The Christian life is not a sprint. It is a journey of ten million steps. Day after day, and year after year, we put one foot in front of the other as we flee the wreckage of our sin and follow Jesus on the path of life. We step away from self-protection toward love, away from darkness toward light, away from foolishness toward wisdom. Step after step after step — ten million times.
..;.Why You Should Stay Married? and How?  -Matt Recker
Many believers who have been married for years and who may even know intellectually all that the Bible says on this matter, still often end up divorcing their spouse. Others reading this may want to know this about their marriage: is there any hope? There is a tremendous spiritual battle for our homes today and sadly, many divorces split Christian homes every year.
.;..The Heart of True Repentance   -Matt Erbaugh
Few things in the life of a believer are as disheartening as the long struggle with persistent sins. This is particularly true when we have experienced victory over sin in other areas of our life. We know God has the power to get rid of our sin, so why won’t he?
..;.What Expository Preaching Is Not  -H.B. Charles, Jr.
.....I believe expository preaching is the most faithful way to preach the word of God. Understanding and practicing expository preaching helps the preacher rightly handle the word of truth. But, it is also important to understand what expository preaching is not, in addition to what it is. Many preachers reject expository preaching without really knowing what it is. Others seek to practice it without really knowing what it is.

..;..Interpreting Trump and the Never Trumpers-Kent Brandenburg
.....I see Trump as a judge-like figure of the Old Testament Judges type. I say, Judge like, but pretty close to like them. He himself is not righteous, but he's doing a lot of great stuff for the righteous team, whether he believes in it or not, just like the judges. As you read this, I want you to understand that I know that God doesn't have a covenant with the United States of America. However, when you study the Old Testament major prophets, you read large sections on the judgment of the nations, where God has expectations of Gentile nations with whom He does not have covenant. Those nations, and the United States, are still responsible to God. People can be blessed of God depending upon what they do, because this is still our Father's world. You and I live in an anomaly of history for true Christians, the United States of America. True believers haven't had freedom like this. Jews haven't either for the most part, since the destruction of Jerusalem. It's an amazing time for Christians.

..;..Did the FBI Conspire To Stop Trump?  -World Net Daily
The original question the FBI investigation of the Trump campaign was to answer was a simple one: Did he do it?  Did Trump, or officials with his knowledge, collude with Vladimir Putin’s Russia to hack the emails of John Podesta and the DNC, and leak the contents to damage Hillary Clinton and elect Donald Trump?  A year-and-a-half into the investigation, and, still, no “collusion” has been found. Yet the investigation goes on, at the demand of the never-Trump media and Beltway establishment.  Hence, and understandably, suspicions have arisen.  Are the investigators after the truth, or are they after Trump? Set aside the Trump-Putin conspiracy theory momentarily, and consider a rival explanation for what is going down here: That, from the outset, Director James Comey and an FBI camarilla were determined to stop Trump and elect Hillary Clinton. Having failed, they conspired to break Trump’s presidency.....
.;..Oregon Christian Bakers Lose Appeal Case    -Christian Headlines
The Oregon Court of Appeals maintained a ruling against Aaron and Melissa Klein, owners of the bakery Sweetcakes by Melissa, which ordered the Kleins to pay $135,000 to a lesbian couple whose wedding cake the Kleins refused to make, says The Blaze. The Blaze quotes KGW-TV saying, “The court did reverse one decision that said bakers Aaron and Melissa Klein violated state law by communicating their intent to discriminate against gay couples in the future.” The Kleins, represented by First Liberty Institute, may take the case to the Oregon Supreme Court next.
..;.Sick, Dying and Raped In America's Nursing Homes-CNN
Some of the victims can't speak. They rely on walkers and wheelchairs to leave their beds. They have been robbed of their memories. They come to nursing homes to be cared for....The unthinkable is happening at facilities throughout the country: Vulnerable seniors are being raped and sexually abused by the very people paid to care for them. It's impossible to know just how many victims are out there. But through an exclusive analysis of state and federal data and interviews with experts, regulators and the families of victims, CNN has found that this little-discussed issue is more widespread than anyone would imagine. Even more disturbing: In many cases, nursing homes and the government officials who oversee them are doing little -- or nothing -- to stop it. Sometimes pure -- and even willful -- negligence is at work. In other instances, nursing home employees and administrators are hamstrung in their efforts to protect victims who can't remember exactly what happened to them or even identify their perpetrators.
