Christian Journal: Scientists Now Resort To Calling Christians Crazy — ‘New Study’ Attempts to Establish a Link Between Religious Fundamentalism and Brain Damage
Scientists from Northwestern University published a study in the journal Neuropsychologia attempting to establish a link between religious fundamentalism and brain impairment. The findings suggest that religious fundamentalists have less cognitive flexibility, in addition, the study states that damage to particular areas of the prefrontal cortex indirectly promotes religious fundamentalism. In other words, science is now attempting to say that those who believe the Bible have brain damage....LINK
Daily Signal: Joy Behar Apologizes on ‘The View’ for Mocking Mike Pence’s Faith
A month after mocking Vice President Mike Pence for his Christian faith on an episode of ABC’s “The View,” co-host Joy Behar publicly apologized on air. Behar did so on Tuesday’s show shortly after she apologized to Pence in a telephone call and the vice president said he forgave her. “Vice President Pence is right. I was raised to respect everyone’s religious faith, and I fell short of that,” Behar told her audience. “I sincerely apologize for what I said.” The apology came one month to the day after Behar, a comedian and liberal commentator, compared Pence’s Christianity to mental illness.....LINK

Christianity Today: Joni Eareckson Tada— Why Suicide Is Everybody’s Business
.....The vast majority of suicides of elderly or terminally ill people or those with disabilities occur quietly within homes and institutions, far from the media, the courts, and the public eye. These are hurting, despondent people who never make the news and only rarely appear on your Facebook feed. These are the ones living a quiet desperation: The woman with cancer, seesawing in and out of remission.....LINK
Wall Street Journal: Elderly in U.S. Are Projected to Outnumber Children for First Time
The milestone would be the latest marker of the nation’s aging, which has accelerated with baby boomers’ move into their senior years and recessionary effects on births and immigration over the past decade. The shift deepens challenges for fiscal policy and economic growth. Trends in birth and immigration have also slowed the rate at which the country is becoming more diverse. Whites who aren’t Hispanic will begin shrinking as a group by 2024. They would drop below half of the population by 2045, two years later than estimated........LINK

Chris Watson: The Real Problem with Gun Violence
....Despite the claims of some, the recent plethora of school shootings do not demonstrate that guns are the problem. Guns are a tool to be used for good or for evil. The problem is much darker. The problem is the human heart. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” (Jeremiah 17:9  When I desired revenge, I was demonstrating a sick, dark heart. That heart, if we are honest with God and with ourselves, exists in all of us. The propensity to do evil is there, whether we admit it or not.....LINK

David French: Intersectionality, the Dangerous Faith
The demise of religion among American youth is greatly exaggerated. It turns out that America isn’t raising a new generation of unbelievers. Instead, rising in the heart of deep-blue America are the zealots of a new religious faith. They’re the intersectionals, they’re fully woke, and the heretics don’t stand a chance.....LINK

Breaking Israel News: Will Turkey Lead An End-of-Days Global Islamic Jihad Against Israel And The US?
....the Turkish president’s call for 57 nations to join together to form an anti-Israel army of Islam could create the most formidable military force on the planet. One Israeli expert on Islam stated emphatically, “make no mistake; this is war,” and lest the message is missed, he also emphasized that this call for jihad includes a direct threat against the US. Once warm, relations between Turkey and Israel have been shaky in the last decade. But this call for a religious war against Israel is a relatively new development.....LINK
David Murray: Good Theology Is the Answer to Bad Technology
The longer I’ve wrestled with the challenges of digital technology in my life and in the lives of others, the more convinced I’ve become that the ultimate answer is not “no technology” or “more technology” but “more theology.” If we want a deep, lasting, and spiritual solution, we need to learn and teach deep, lasting, and spiritual truths. Digital theology is the answer to digital technology; the oldest truths are the best rebuttal to the newest challenges.....LINK
Heather Peacock: Eight Ways to Welcome People with Disabilities into Your Church
Welcoming people with disabilities is less about having special programming and more about gracious and compassionate people who look for ways to be inclusive and accommodating.   Ask a family how you can best serve them and have them into your home! This extends fellowship to them that pulls them out of isolation.  We are often asked if our daughter is able to get into homes without a........LINK
Amy Medina: Why is 'Work' a Bad Word?
....Work came before the Fall of Man, not after. Adam was given a job in the Garden. And there's no reason to believe that in Heaven we're going to sit around on clouds all day. We'll be working. Indeed, the sweat and pressure of work is a result of sin, but not work itself.....LINK
David Cloud: The Normal-Literal Method of Interpretation vs. Allegoricalism
The “normal-literal” method of Bible interpretation refers to the manner in which human language is ordinarily interpreted. We use figures of speech, such as metaphors, in normal speech, but we understand that these are figures of speech by the context and we know how to interpret them. If I say, “I’m going for a run,” we know that this means that I am literally going to go running. But if I say, “I’m going to run down to the store,” we know this is a figure of speech, and it simply means that I am going to the store, whether by walking, driving, etc.  The same is true for Bible prophecy. It contains figures of speech, but the Bible makes it clear that these are figures of speech and teaches us how to interpret them either by the context itself or by comparing Scripture with Scripture.......LINK

Kevin Bauder: The Fundamentalists and Billy Graham
The fundamentalist movement took shape around two great controversies. The first was a struggle with religious liberalism for control of the old, main-line denominations. Fundamentalists lost that fight almost everywhere. As they exited their denominations, they built up a large, independent network of both new denominations (e.g., the IFC and the GARBC) and non-denominational institutions. These institutions included schools, missions, book houses, magazines, papers, evangelistic agencies, inter-church councils, radio ministries, and youth organizations. By the 1940s this fundamentalist network had become a powerful vehicle through which American fundamentalists were working around the world. The second great controversy was a contest with neoevangelicalism for the soul of this fundamentalist network. Cracks in fundamentalist solidarity appeared as early......LINK
Michael Brown: Joy Behar, Mike Pence, Donald Trump and the Question of Public Apologies
According to Vice President Pence, Joy Behar needs to make a public apology for the anti-Christian comments she made on the View. How do we sort this out?....LINK

Daily Signal: Planned Parenthood Rakes in Taxpayer Dollars
Breaking the law doesn’t help your chances for earning federal dollars—but apparently, it doesn’t hurt them either. If there’s one thing Planned Parenthood’s learned over the last few years, it’s that crime does pay. A lot, according to the Government Accountability Office. Despite piles of evidence that Cecile Richards’ group was illegally selling baby body parts, a new report shows the wrongdoing hasn’t made the slightest dent in its taxpayer-funded gravy train—at least on the federal level.....LINK
Matthew Cochran: Why Christians Should Prepare To Defend Themselves From Mass Shooters In Church
Like many others, I suspect mass murders in churches will increase in the near future. Christ warned us the world would hate us because it hates him. As the West increasingly chooses to reject its Christian roots, it therefore cannot help but turn to persecution and murder. There is no middle ground in this conflict where Christians are simply left to go about our business. It is therefore no wonder that, like people who work in schools and other gun-free zones, American Christians are beginning to ask themselves, “What happens when the shooter comes to my church?” How are we to handle a situation like that? Like anyone else, Christians would rather mentally and physically prepare for such an eventuality rather than being caught unawares.....LINK

Daily Signal: How ‘American Idol’ Helped Christians Overcome the Music Establishment
By 2009, the impact of “American Idol” on the Christianization of American pop music was crystal clear, even to the most casual observer, when it produced a showdown between two artists, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert. Allen, it turns out, was a “worship leader” at his church, which in non-evangeli-speak roughly translates to “guy who leads the singing,” while Lambert was the contestant who had seen photographs of himself kissing men splashed across the internet....LINK

Amy Simpson: One of the Best Things Churches Can Do for People With Mental Illness
“Please don’t tell anyone,” she pleaded. “They won’t let me serve anymore.” I could tell that this woman...had just “confessed” to me that she faced a serious struggle with depression...she was begging me to keep my mouth shut about it because she was pretty sure her church’s pastoral staff was not so safe. The thing that scared her was not that she would be ostracized or publicly humiliated or condemned. It was that she would have her ministry position taken away. And that role was one of the things that was keeping her alive.....LINK
David Gundersen: The Most Important Time to Go to Church
The most important time to be at church is when you don’t feel like it. I’ve talked with three Christians about this recently—two struggling with depression, and a third who just went through a tough break-up—who’ve stopped gathering with God’s people during a difficult season. Whether for weeks or months, all three have decided to stop going to church.....LINK
Wally Morris : A Boring Eternity?
....The Bible does not give much information about life after the elimination of sin. We know the theology of what will happen. However, practically, what will that be like? Well, life certainly will be different. The nature of that difference is hard to understand. Revelation records active worship and praise of God. Other Biblical passages record angelic activity.....LINK

Prophecy News Watch: In Europe— The Rapid Spread Of Dhimmitude
Although Europe is not part of the Muslim world, many European authorities nevertheless seem to feel obliged to submit to Islam in more or less subtle ways. This voluntary submission appears to be unprecedented: Dhimmi, historically speaking, is the Arabic term for the conquered non-Muslim, who agrees to live as a second-rate, "tolerated" citizen, under Islamic rule, submitting to a separate, demeaning set of laws and the demands of his Islamic masters. In Europe, submitting to the demands of Islam, in the name of "diversity" and "human rights", has also been happening voluntarily....LINK

J. Warner Wallace: Is Christianity Shrinking In America? Yes and No
It’s a common question asked by church leaders and laity: “Is American Christianity waning as our nation becomes more secular?” The statistics seem to support a “yes” answer to this question. I’ve been collecting data on this issue for over ten years. The surveys (more than 50 I’ve chronicled so far) reveal a disturbing, albeit unified, trend: Fewer people claim a Christian affiliation than ever before, and those who claim no religious affiliation are the fastest growing group in America.....LINK

David Cloud: When Did Billy Graham's Compromise Begin?
Billy Graham’s compromise and disobedience began very early in his ministry. He was born in 1918 into a Presbyterian home and traces his conversion to the preaching of evangelist Mordecai Ham in 1934. He graduated from high school in May 1936 and attended Bob Jones College (which later became Bob Jones University) in the fall but switched to Florida Bible Institute after only one semester because he did not like the strict discipline at Bob Jones. He notes in his biography that "one thing that thrilled me [about Florida Bible Institute] was the diversity of viewpoints we were exposed to in the classroom, a wondrous blend of ecumenical and evangelical thought that was really ahead of its time" (Graham, Just As I Am, p. 46). ....LINK

The earliest historical record of crucifixion dates to c. 519 BC, when King Darius I of Persia crucified 3,000 of his political enemies in Babylon. ...LINK
Nick Kennicott: The Many Faces of Legalism
....Legalism exists in every heart, and most of the time it’s a subtle way of talking about God and how He relates to His people. Doctrinal legalism distorts the gospel, and practical legalism stands in the way of our communion with God and with one another. Some forms of legalism are more obvious than others, but there are at least five types of legalism to note........LINK

Michael Brown: The Left Really Is Trying To Silence Christians
Maybe you once thought that the left wanted tolerance and diversity, but in reality, tolerance and diversity have never been the goals of the left, especially the radical left. Instead, it wants to suppress and silence opposing views, and the further left you go, the more extreme the intolerance. For those who have still not come to grips with this, let these recent examples jar you....LINK

....Compared with other European nations during the ongoing migrant crisis, Sweden, like Germany, has taken in a disproportionately high number of refugees of all faiths. Randy Alcorn: Don’t Be Afraid of Trying and Failing
......All of us want to succeed more than we do at any level, and our experience of a sense of failure is equally real regardless of that level. You can make it to the NFL, a dream that very few realize. But if your dream is to be a starter, being a backup seems a failure. If you are a starter and your goal is the playoffs, and it’s everyone’s goal, not going there seems a failure. If the only definition of success is to win the Super Bowl, then every year every member of 31 or the 32 NFL teams will be a failure. And the winners’ success will be short-lived.....LINK

Some people don’t know which books are worth reading. Others have been trained in EE and CWT and any other acronym of your choice and it’s still not helping. The art of personal evangelism is struggling these days. If you’re struggling, let me offer some practical suggestions........LINK

CBN News: Could Billy Graham’s Death Spark the Next Great Revival?
.....“Billy Graham was one wise believer in the Messiah. What a legacy!” said Sid Roth, host of "It's Supernatural!" He was referencing a verse in the book of Proverbs that says, "He who is wise wins souls." Roth – like a growing list of others, including the late evangelist’s daughter Anne Graham Lotz – believes his death, which he likened to a promotion, could be the catalyst to spark a new revival. ..LINK

Thomas Kidd: The Story Behind Billy Graham’s Prison-Built Casket
Billy Graham preached to more than 215 million people in more than 185 countries. He met with at least a dozen presidents and heads of state. Graham appeared in the top ten of Gallup’s most-admired men in the world 61 times, far more than any other person. Ronald Reagan is his closest competition, making the list 31 times. So why is the celebrated Graham going to be buried in a plywood casket built by prisoners in Louisiana? The answer helps us understand a key facet of the man’s character. In addition to having an effect on presidents, and millions of everyday people across the world, the Graham family also had a big effect on those the Bible says should not be overlooked: prisoners. The Graham family has been connected to the Louisiana State Penitentiary, a.k.a. Angola, a maximum-security prison once known as the bloodiest prison in America. ....LINK

In the newest Times Sunday Magazine, writer Wil S. Kent Brandenburg: Cultic KJVO?
....There are some problems with KJVO.  Certain KJVO equal any bad position on the preservation of scripture and accompany a kind of mysticism related also to a false view of sanctification.  Those details should be pointed out and dealt with, instead of just calling it "cultic" in an unhelpful way.  I'm inclined to forget what I'm writing, and call it a cultic groupthink analysis.  It is it's own form of koolaid drinking.  Nobody needs to know why, just supply the red meat.....LINK

Ryan T. Anderson: The Trump Administration and America’s Transgender Moment
ho knew that removing the federal government from debates over school bathroom policies would be considered an assault on LGBT rights? That’s the argument activists made last week when the Department of Education (DOE) announced that it would begin enforcing Title IX the way the federal government always had, up until the second term of the Obama administration. That’s when the Obama DOE announced that the word “sex” now meant “gender identity” — and ordered schools to open up their bathrooms, locker rooms, showers, and dorms accordingly. It’s understandable that many ordinary Americans recoiled at this transgender mandate. Most Americans — including those who identify as transgender — aren’t activists and want to find ways to peacefully coexist. ....LINK

Denny Burk: The Dangers for ‘Harry’ Becoming ‘Sally’

This revision has enormous practical implications, even for those of us who would rather not be part of the revolution....If you haven’t cared about this issue much until now, it’s becoming clear that eventually you’ll be made to care. And this is especially true for Christians and other religious believers who believe the distinction between male and female is a part of God’s good creation design.....LINK

David Cloud: Vigilance and Separation In the Internet Age
....Even if you are saved and love the Lord and are studying the Bible and seeking His will, there are still powerful enemies within and without, and victory requires keen vigilance and strict separation. David, the “sweet Psalmist of Israel,” was a passionate seeker of God, but we know what happened to him when he ceased being vigilant. The things of the world can choke the Word in the believer’s life so that he doesn’t bear spiritual fruit (Mk. 4:19; Lk. 8:14). Jeremiah warned about sowing among thorns (Jer. 4:3). This refers to trying to serve the Lord without separating from sin, which is exactly what multitudes of professing Christians are doing in fundamental Baptist churches. Their daily lives are filled with worldly lusts and pleasures by the definition of 1 John 2:15-16, but they profess Christ and attend church and perhaps even read the Bible and pray. This was the condition of Israel of old... It is not possible to love God and also to love the wicked world. ....LINK

Jerry Newcombe: The Danger of Disarming

Matthew Hosier: There Goes That Pesky Biological Reality Again

In these instances, and others, we are meant to say a thing that evidently, objectively, is, isn’t - and woe betide us if we don’t toe the line. The trouble is, reality has a way of making itself known. ....LINK

Jared C. Wilson: Why We Should Use the Language of Brokenness
It’s an opinion that pops up in my social media feeds every now and again from well-meaning believers critical of the therapeutic influence on Christian preaching and teaching. ‘Stop saying people are broken. They’re sinful. That’s the problem.’ Or some variation of the same. At a speaking engagement recently a fellow in a Q&A time asked for my thoughts on the language of ‘brokenness’ in preaching. Is it okay to say people are broken? Or that the world suffers from brokenness? It’s obviously on people’s minds.....LINK
